Enneagram Test
The Enneagram appears to be a hybrid of several older traditions, including the Seven Deadly Sins, Kabbalah, Sufism, the Chaldean Seal, and Gnosticism, and was developed largely through intuition rather than scientific research. Claudio Naranjo played an important role in westernizing the system, and many modern Enneagram authors owe much of their work to his ideas.
As a nine-trait personality system, I have found that the Enneagram has definite descriptive value, as I think any personality system with sufficiently distinct traits can. However, descriptions of the nine types still vary somewhat from author to author. Because the Enneagram lacks a clearly defined scientific structure or rationale, determining which descriptions are most accurate remains difficult. There are also overlap and orthogonality issues, meaning some Enneagram types correlate with one another.
