How to Use This Page
- Look first at the largest score. That is usually the clearest indication of what the item measures.
- Do not ignore cross-loadings. An item can strongly reflect several motivations at once.
- Prefer cleaner items when building scales. An item with one strong loading and weak secondary loadings generally provides a more distinct measure.
- Use the notation as a screening tool, not a complete psychometric analysis. Reliability, redundancy, item difficulty/mean, discrimination, and factor stability still matter.
- Scores near the cutoff are less compelling. The practical difference between 149 and 151 should not be treated as psychologically sharp.
